● Which hypervisor is used underneath
● Scalability of the network layer
● Which storage system is used for volumes
● API quality and ease of use
● Feature velocity
● Portability

1. Focus on the APIs as the key to adoption
2. Invest in ease of use vs. even more flexible
plumbing
3. Don’t move up the stack. Partner instead.

competition (vs. central planning)
5. Enable workload mobility to other platforms
