Eucalyptus wants to be an OpenStack contributor. Eucalyptus is the cloud that fits in a backpack, is AWS compatible and can run inside a large datacenter. OpenStack is the all-embracing cloud project that various large and small vendors package for complex and highly customized deployments. These are deployments where AWS compatibility is not a vital requirement.
Marten Mickos is intent on finding and pursuing a mutual benefit. In this talk, Marten will discuss how open source will beat closed source in cloud infrastructure software. He will touch on the difficulty in producing technically brilliant products when governance is shared among very large corporations, each one with their own agenda.
When OpenStack succeeds, Eucalyptus can also succeed. Come hear Marten Mickos outline his game plan for how the two can succeed by drawing strength from each other.
