5. Presentation format + atmosphere
• Each presenter is allocated 60 minutes
• 30 minutes presentation + 30 minutes Q&A
• Up to the presenter to use the time as they see fit
• Open, encouraging, positive atmosphere
• Anyone can join the presentations
• “How can we improve the paper?” not “What is wrong in the paper?”
• Multiple perspectives (‘disciplinary voices’) enable us to gain additional depth into our papers
• DoD research seminar as a living organism
• evolves according to the community’s needs + we experiment with best practices identified
inside and outside Aalto University
• Ideas for improving the seminar concept
