6. As with Facebook you’ll need a personal
profile before you can create a business page
7. And there is some debate as to whether to
use your personal profile to promote your
business, or whether you should have a
separate business page
8. The current thinking is that it’s best to use
your personal profile for all your Google+
marketing IF you’re a personal brand,
solopreneur or working online
9. Business pages are best for bricks and
mortar businesses and larger companies
10. The principles of building your profile are
the same whether it’s a personal profile or
business page, and there are three key
elements to focus on
11. Here‘s how to Optimize Your Google+
Profile in 5 Minutes (blog post and video)
Mmspark.com/optimise-your-google-plus-profile
13. Circles are your contacts and
connections and are sorted by interest,
interaction and topic
14. You can put people into your circles
according to your relationship with them
(friends, family) or their business status
(prospect, customer, VIP member)
15. The beauty of this is that you can tailor the
information you share with your circles
16. So, for example, you might share your
holiday snaps with friends and family, but
your latest blog post will go out to all your
customers and prospects
17. Circles work both ways so if someone has
you in their circle you’ll receive their
information in a “stream”, which will be
tailored according to your relationship with
them, and your interests
18. This makes for very targeted
information sharing
(unlike the other social media platforms
where everyone sees everything you
post – or < 20% of what you post if
you’re on Facebook!)
19. Adding someone to your circles means
More
=
interaction
More
trust
=
Higher search
rankings
25. Be sure to put together an outline or script
before you begin to eliminate a lot of the
“ums” and “uhs” you might get otherwise,
and schedule the webinar a day or two in
advance to give people plenty of time to
clear their schedules
26. Hangouts offer a level of human contact a
standard chat never could, and they can be
an excellent marketing tool if used properly
28. This might sound obvious but unless you
spend time on Google+ (or any social
platform) consistently you won’t get the
engagement and traction necessary to
build your business
29. Make a commitment to spend 10-15 minutes
a day on Google+* working through steps 1-3
and I promise you’ll see results
