This document discusses the results of the New7Wonders Foundation's initiative to name the New Seven Wonders of the World as chosen by popular vote. It lists the seven wonders as: 1) Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca city in Peru; 2) Chichen Itza, a Mayan city in Mexico; 3) the Colosseum in Rome; 4) the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro; 5) Petra, an archaeological city carved into rock in Jordan; 6) the Taj Mahal in India; and 7) the Great Wall of China. It then questions the validity of this list and provides an alternative list of real wonders as those that allow us to

6. 1st: MACHU PICCHU
Machu Picchu is an ancient village built in the
mid-fifteenth century. It was used as a religious
shrine.

9. 2nd: CHICHÉN ITZÁ
CHICHÉN Itza is a Mayan city founded around
525 AD as one of the most important political
centers of the time.

11. 3rd: Colosseum OF ROME
The Colosseum is an amphitheater of the Roman
Empire period, built in the first century.
27. 7th: THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortress built in
the 700 B.C to protect the northern border of the
Chinese empire.
It is estimated to be 8851.8 km long, although to date only retains 30% of it.
Nearly 10 million workers died during construction.
