8. Sexting Sexting is the act of sending sexually explicit messages or photographs, most commonly through mobile phones. According to a survey of 653 teens, 39% of which admitted to sending or posting sexually suggestive messages (Sex and Tech 2). Under the same survey 48% of all teens said they have received sexually suggestive messages (Sex and Tech 2).

Sexting Court Cases In February 2009, located in Greensburg, Pa., three high school girls who sent seminude photos and four male students who received them were all hit with child pornography charges. Jesse Logan was a high school senior who committed suicide after sexting a nude photo to her boyfriend.

In 2006, a 14-year-old Texas girl and her mother filed a $30 million lawsuit against MySpace, claiming the girl had been sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old man she met on the site. 38% of parents never seen their child’s MySpace page (Adolescents in MySpace: Identify Formation, Friendship and Sexual Predators).
