2.  It takes 2-3 weeks to adapt to the new
denture.
 Age is an important factor, older patients
need more time to adapt.
 Sore spots, Difficulty eating, Difficulty in
speaking, Cheek/lip biting, Frustration,
will also take place during this time.

3.  When first using new dentures, only eat
soft foods. Once you begin to learn how
to use them you can gradually increase
the resistance of the food you eat.
 Biting with your front teeth will always
cause the dentures to tip. Try to use your
back teeth and bite food off using the
corners of your mouth.

4.  Place one piece of food on either side of
your mouth before chewing. Chewing
food on both sides of your mouth at the
same time may reduce tipping.
 Cut the food by your hands and place it
bilaterally in your mouth.
 Avoid sticky foods because it will
displace the denture.

5.  Remove the dentures at night to allow
the underlying tissue to rest.
 Massage the underlying tissue at night by
the index finger , to keep your gum
healthy which is important for the
success of the C.D.

6.  Remove the C.D after every meal and rinse
it well.
 Use a toothbrush to clean the food off the
denture.
 Take care not to drop and break your
denture.
 Don’t use toothpaste to clean your
denture.
 After removing the denture at night and
cleaning it soak it in a clean water until the
morning.
