1. CHANGES MADE TO MY ALBUM
COVER:
After asking people confirmative of
my target audience, to review the
album cover I made, I was able to
gain a substantial amount of
audience feedback enabling me to
change and alter my album cover
in ways in which would appear
more preferably for my target
audience.
These changes will ensure the
ultimate success of my product, of
which must be appealing for my
target audience if I wish to gain
their attraction.
The majority of the changes were
made by adding additional features
and layers to the document on
abode Photoshop, which is shown
below.
CUSTOMER ADUEINCE FEEDBACK LEADING TO CHANGES
MADE:
1. Reviewee one: “ I really liked this product. Its definitely eye catching and
would appeal to people my age! I like the fact that the cool kids is in red
and therefore distinctive. Altogether though I really love this album
cover!”
2. Reviewee two: “ This album cover is really nice! I love it! However, I
think the red writing on cool kids Is good but you should add more colour
to the album, as I feel the rest of it is just too black and white which could
be a bit boring, and not very eye-catching, so maybe add a few features
that increase the interest so its not so black and white?
3. Reviewee three “ This is a really good album cover. I really like the main
image, however I feel more colour could be added to the entire album
cover, as its quite black and white which doesn't appeal to me, and
possibly not other people my age.”
4. Reviewee four “This album cover is really good and eye-catching. I think
the placing of the words is really good, however maybe add more of a
background layer- this way its not just the writing and image, but there
could be colour and a background style, just to make the album look more
advanced and complex which looks more professional and interesting, as
right now it looks quite mundane and ordinary, so add a few more
features?!”
2. Original Design:
This is the original album cover I produced. After showing
people of my target audience, I gathered a large amount of
audience feedback, suggesting improvements that could
be made (see previous slide above). The strongest
suggestion, was that this album cover is too black and
white and therefore could be too conformative of the rock
genre, or just boring, which is not very conformative of
Indie pop genres of which are more joyful. For this reason I
made some changes of which are displayed below.
Revised Design:
After reading and gaining feedback from my customer feedback, I
decided that I should add some conventions to my album cover
that made it appear more interesting and stand out more. This
was strongly suggested in my customer feedback with concerns
over the boring appearance of the above first draft, of which was
too black and white which is a colour scheme less conformative
of the indie pop genre. For this reason I used Photoshop to add
both scan lines ( a arrangement of vertical lines created on
Photoshop) on the background of the album cover and also a
colour split of green, red and blue of which added a more
interesting ‘happy’ colour scheme more conformative of the indie
pop genre and also gave the vintage video feel to my album
cover, vintage being a feature very much conformative of modern
indie pop genres.
3. Two features I added to my revised version of the album cover, of which was an attempt to add a more vibrant colour scheme and
interesting appearance to my album cover was the inclusion of scan lines. These lines are present in old videos, when the picture is
changing are therefore associated with vintage products. Because of the similarities ade with both the indie pop genre and vintage
material, I decided this would not only be an interesting background layer (indicated by reviewee four) but also would make my
product appear more vintage further enhancing the indie pop genre. To make this, I created scan lines (vertical lines) and added
them as a background layer on Photoshop. In addition to add more colour, I added green, blue and red colour split. This again is a
feature associated wit the old videos, and vintage and therefore further increased the indie pop genre. After reviewing this with
the audience of my target group, reviews seemed more positive and expressed appleaseale with these changes.
4. In the revised version of my album cover, there are several conventions of which I changed to improve it.
These included, the inclusion of scan lines again. This is important not only because it is further
conformative of my indie pop genre, but also because it ensures that the front and back cover of my
album are in synch and contain the same features. In addition to this, I also included a red, blue and green
colour split, however more moderately presented this time. This enabled the album cover to look more
interesting and ‘up beat’ further conrformative of the indie pop genre.
