• At the 2018 World Economic Forum, Jack Ma/Ma Yun (Alibaba) says
that only by changing education and our choices as parents and
leaders, can children compete with machines.
• Robots could replace up to 800 million jobs by 2030 (2018, McKinsey
Global Institute)
• Education in a digital and tech world is becoming a major challenge.
• If we do not change the way we teach, 10 years from now we will
be in trouble.
• The way we teach, the things we teach our kids, are the things from
the past 200 years. It is knowledge based.
• We cannot teach our children to compete with machines - they are
smarter.
• Teachers and Parents must stop teaching KNOWLEDGE...we have
to teach something UNIQUE, so a machine can never catch up
with us. Compare to the view “Coding as the 12th language in SA”?)

• These are the soft parts of humanity that knowledge will not teach you.
• Audience Reflection –
How do we are Technology Business Leaders and societies, value these soft
skills?
• That is why I think we should teach our children :
• SPORTS,
• MUSIC,
• PAINTING,
• ART,
• HUMAN SCIENCES - to make sure humans are different.
• Everything we teach should be different from machines.
• If a machine can do it better, we need to re-think our approach.

Example: Discovery Eco-system (Medical, Lifestyle (Vitality), Card and Insurance) Products Become Information-Rich Services Data Reliance Deepens ■ Customers rely on data, especially from peers, for purchase decisions. ■ Managers and employees use data for virtually every business decision. ■ Overabundance and uncertain veracity of data make it harder to reach decisions quickly. Technology Leadership in Africa…changing Education, Our children, our future… • At the 2018 World Economic Forum, Jack Ma/Ma Yun (Alibaba) says that only by changing education and our choices as parents and leaders, can children compete with machines. • Robots could replace up to 800 million jobs by 2030 (2018, McKinsey Global Institute) • Education in a digital and tech world is becoming a major challenge. • If we do not change the way we teach, 10 years from now we will be in trouble. • The way we teach, the things we teach our kids, are the things from the past 200 years. It is knowledge based. • We cannot teach our children to compete with machines - they are smarter. • Teachers and Parents must stop teaching KNOWLEDGE...we have to teach something UNIQUE, so a machine can never catch up with us.
