Codes of Conduct <ul><li>Codes of conduct is linked closely to Roles and Functions as both topics talk about written and unwritten rules. </li></ul><ul><li>Codes of conduct is about how people act or behave in different sporting activities. </li></ul><ul><li>Codes of conduct is also about etiquette and good manners. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Etiquette <ul><li>Etiquette means - playing the game to the rules. </li></ul><ul><li>- being polite to opponents </li></ul><ul><li>- being polite to team mates </li></ul><ul><li>- accepting the referee’s decisions </li></ul><ul><li>- behaving in a sporting manner </li></ul>
  4. 4. Etiquette cont. <ul><li>There should be no arguing </li></ul><ul><li>There should be no name calling </li></ul><ul><li>There should be no swearing / bad language </li></ul><ul><li>There should be no spitting, kicking or throwing the ball away </li></ul>

Etiquette cont. <ul><li>At the end of the game you should shake hands with your opponent(s) and the officials. </li></ul><ul><li>During the game or match you should acknowledge good play. </li></ul><ul><li>You should always accept the decisions made by the officials in charge of the game and you should not argue with them. </li></ul>

Written and unwritten rules <ul><li>Written rules </li></ul><ul><li>These rules are made by the governing body of the sport – eg FIFA, SVA, AAA </li></ul><ul><li>These are rules that define the game. </li></ul><ul><li>In Football you can only score a goal by kicking or heading the ball between the two posts. </li></ul><ul><li>Everyone taking part in the activity must play to the rules/laws </li></ul><ul><li>Unwritten rules </li></ul><ul><li>These are rules that help make the game more enjoyable to play. </li></ul><ul><li>These rules may be used to make the game easier to officiate. </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes a teacher or coach may use an unofficial rule to try and get a point across in a practice game or situation </li></ul>
