The British Standard for weld symbols is BS EN 22553. A basic weld symbol includes an arrow line, reference line, and symbol. Weld symbols on the full reference line relate to welds on the near side of the plate, while dashed lines relate to the far side. Supplementary symbols are used in addition to primary weld symbols and are not used alone.
