- 1-the receiving objectives are to assure that your vendor has delivered to your warehouse the right product The right quantity, in good condition , and on time 2- (Transportation) 3- (Deposit, Withdrawal & Replenishment). 5- Preparation for Loading. 6- provide your work station with the correct product, in the correct quantity, in good condition ,and on schedule . 9- Inbound & Outbound Truck Yard Control.
- (Vehicle restrictions, Access to good roads & highways, Closeness to workstation & Vendors) ( Zoning Restrictions & Regulations, Shape & Size, Neighbor’s Type of Business). Availability of labor, Cost of labor, Educational level. Cost & availability of Power, water, gas & diesel, telephone & communications. Crime rates, presence of security stations. Building taxes, City taxes, Property taxes, and other incentives if any. This concept utilize the same building , equipment and employees, maximize the utilization of equipment and employees. This concept requires a truck dock scheduling for inbound and outbound like morning and afternoon. Disadvantages are increase in house transportation and requires exact scheduling of inbound and outbound trucks.
- It is good for a large operation companies and handles a high volume. Disadvantages: increases the investment in building, docks, equipment, and employees.
- Each dock is located across from the product storage area. Products flow directly , shortest distance from the truck to the assigned storage location. Med-bay building, made of steel. 33 ft (10.05 m) of clear ceiling ( from the finished floor surface to the lowest ceiling obstruction). Rectangular. 20-30% of the warehouse allocated for receiving & shipping, 70-80% for storage & Picking . (Receiving & Shipping (2) Storing & Picking (3) Offices (4) Restrooms & Locker room (5) Cafeteria & Conference Room (6) Maintenance & Workshop (7) Returned Items .
- Less storage density and lower employee productivity because of the increased nonproductive end of aisle turns.
- Also 3 to 6” between two unit loads and rack members 18” between the highest pallet load and the first ceiling obstruction (spinklers). 6 to 12” flue space between back to back racks or walls. 2 to 6” between floor stack loads (like stacking frames or pallet loads). 18” from the wall in food warehouses to ensure proper sanitation. 6 to 12” from any material handling equipment and building obstacles.
