[A] negative context [is set] in the public consciousness,
which hinder s dialogue and mutual under standing [...]
Without more accur ate and unbiased infor mation [...]
free of negative rhetor ic and stereotypes, Ar menians and
Azerbaijanis will continue to see themselves as enemies
without any common ground.

24. A N OT H ER ALTERNATIVE?
Throughout histor y, war has affected media, with
conflict often creating an infor mation void. In the 21st
centur y, media has begun to affect war more than ever
before . Digital media technologies [...] have increased
communication and infor mation dissemination in
conflict settings [...]. These new tools can be used to
foment violence or to foster peace , and it is possible
to build communication systems that encour age
dialogue and nonviolent political solutions.
