Presented at the Open Science Conference in Berlin 21 March 2017. Outline: There is a very very large amount of scientific literature available, it's impossible to keep track manually. Text and data mining can access and analyse these publications and derive patterns, trends and new combinations. In this way it can lead to new discoveries. Unfortunately you do run into some barriers when doing TDM (legal, skills and interoperability) and another project (FutureTDM) is dealing with this on a policy level. OpenMinTeD has an infrastructural approach and builds a platform that combines content, tools and services and support and training. In this way we hope to contribute to getting new discoveries out of open science.
