11. Under the guidance of prof. Kostyantyn NIEMETS the staff of the
department take part in the creation of development Strategy ofStrategy of
Kharkiv region to 2020Kharkiv region to 2020 and the Strategy of development of theStrategy of development of the
city of Kharkiv to 2030city of Kharkiv to 2030, where the key issues are the development of
human capital, enhancing of competitiveness and creating of
innovative economic environment, optimizing of the spatial
organization of regions and cities, monitoring of social and
geographical processes, the system of engineering metrics and
models to monitor the implementation strategy and others.
12. Socio-geographical problems of transition to a sustainable
development strategy. This research direction initiated in doctoral
dissertation of prof. Lyudmila NIEMETS, in which for the first time
in Ukraine analyzes the problems of sustainable development from
the standpoint of social geography.
Information exchange in sociogeosystems and information
geography. The principles of this scientific direction was laid by
doctoral dissertation of prof. Kostyantyn NIEMETS.
Information technology in the territorial management, developing in
teaching and research work of prof. Sergei KOSTRIKOV.
The ideas of cross-border cooperation are actively developing by
prof. Аrthur GOLIKOV.
Socio-geographical prediction, simulation in social
geography, GIS-technology in socio-geographical
research are represented in scientific research of
prof. Kostyantyn MEZENCEV.

demographic transformation in industrially developed

Ganna KULIESHOVA – the subject of doctoral
dissertation: «Business geography: theory, methodology
and practice»
14. Research directions of the department
• industrial development, agriculture, social infrastructure and culture,
tourism resources of Kharkiv region,
• health care system of Volyn region,
• geodemographic development of Poltava region.
15. Among the promising areas of teaching and research
work of the department :
Completion of 100% transition to new information technologies of
teaching.Expansion of cooperation with related departments and
research institutions to improve the training of students and
retraining of lecturers. Increased requirements for future
graduate students, providing them pre-employment training.
Expansion of cooperation with enterprises, organizations and
institutions to share experiences, organization of "open" lectures,
seminars and conferences and working practices of students.
Providing by relevant methodological literature and information
materials of foreign students who study under contract.
The commercialization of scientific developments, search for
potential customers of intellectual property.
Providing the entry of «THE JOURNAL OF HUMAN
GEOGRAPHY» to international scientometric databases,
increasing the number of foreign publications.
