Sharing Google Doc from my personal gmail account to my cgiar.org email account (registered in Google prior to ICT-KM’s testing of Google Apps)
This is the email I receive in my Outlook inbox. If I click on the link that says “Click to open: Google Docs access test,” it takes me to the following URL: https://www.google.com/a/cgiar.org/ServiceLogin?service=writely&passive=true&nui=1&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%3A443%2Fa%2Fcgiar.org%2FDoc%3Fdocid%3D0ASNu7BBc0KV9ZGM1c2p6N3RfMjA3Z2J6bTJ6aDg%26hl%3DenBut if I right click on the link and “Copy hyperlink” it contains the following URL: https://docs.google.com/a/cgiar.org/Doc?docid=0ASNu7BBc0KV9ZGM1c2p6N3RfMjA3Z2J6bTJ6aDg&hl=en&invite=CLWgusAF
Either of the links from the email takes me to a screen wherein I am asked to log into my cgiar.org account in Google (even if I’m already logged in). Entering my username (p.shelton) and registered password in Google DOES NOT allow me to access the shared Doc.
The only way I’ve been able to overcome this issue is by deleting the a/cgiar.org segment of the URL provided by Google. This part of the URL is included automatically by Google ever since the time ICT-KM claimed ownership over the cgiar.org domain in Google Apps (i.e., links previously did NOT contain any a/cgiar.org segment and worked straight away). So I take the following URL and simply remove the a/cgiar.org/ part. Thus, https://docs.google.com/a/cgiar.org/Doc?docid=0ASNu7BBc0KV9ZGM1c2p6N3RfMjA3Z2J6bTJ6aDg&hl=en&invite=CLWgusAF becomes https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0ASNu7BBc0KV9ZGM1c2p6N3RfMjA3Z2J6bTJ6aDg&hl=en&invite=CLWgusAF
Only after clicking the Accept Invitation link from previous screen am I able to access the document. The document also does not appear in the list of My Documents until I accept the invitation.
