ORCID presentation for the Portuguese research information management community at the Jornadas FCT-FCCN in Évora. Following the FCT initiative for ensuring researchers in Portugal.register with ORCID, new opportunities are arising for integrating ORCID into different research information systems in the country. The presentation shows the current state of ORCID and the integration initiatives taking place for different stakeholders such as funders, publishers or institutions.

- 2. What does ORCID do? v ORCID provides a unique and persistent identifier that can be used throughout one’s career, across professional activities, affiliations, and languages v ORCID iD is integrated in standard workflows and embedded in works metadata, independent of platform

How do we do it? v ORCID is an independent non-profit organization supported by member fees v We provide an open registry of persistent unique identifiers for researchers, and APIs for the community to embed identifiers in research systems and workflows v Data marked public by researchers is published annually by ORCID under a CC0 waiver v ORCID code is available on our GitHub open source repository and we support community efforts to develop tools and services
- 4. Interoperability v ORCID works collaboratively with the research community to ensure use and adoption of research information exchange standards

ORCID iD adoption in PT v Very short implementation time, remarkably successful despite that v Still some issues when listening to researchers: feeling of additional administrative burden, uneven STM/SSHcoverage v Need to dissociate ORCID from Scopus import user experience, eg by offering researchers good and useful integrations

- 16. University profile system Boston University is creating ORCID records for their faculty (opt-out) and students (opt-in). They envision ORCID iDs as part of the university personnel system, access management, DSpace repository, thesis submission, and for tracking trainees on grants.
