This presentation is designed to introduce political and community organizing theory, It’s not designed to be a deep discussion of these practices in the field. In fact, many of the concepts that only received an individual slide in this presentation are hour long presentations on their own. Instead this presentation is designed to introduce a wide range of concepts that will be explored them much more deeply in future presentations.
EveryLibrary, the EveryLibrary Institute’s parent organization is the first and only national political action committee for libraries in the United States. EveryLibrary is built to politically support libraries and library funding by developing the resources that libraries need to build political power and fight back whenever libraries are threatened. In the last six years we have worked on over 100 library campaigns, dozens of school library issues, and fought against many legislative actions against libraries. Through this work, we’ve been able to ensure billions of dollars in stable library funding and we’ve been able to help dozens of libraries keep their doors open to serve their communities. The recently launched EveryLibrary Institute is our 501c3 that is designed to conduct much needed political research and train librarians and library supporters to support libraries.
EveryLibrary is significant in the library ecosystem because its something completely different
Because that’s where the money is
If you think you can’t be political, remember the police don’t have that problem
