7. DataRepositóriUM: why?
(…) how is being introduced?
The Data Repository will not solve all the needs identified in UMinho… but:
It will unlock the many limitations felt today by researchers in research data curation.
It will be a self-curated tool with dataset registration and file deposit that will contribute
to the generation of good practices in data management, sharing and making data FAIR.

8. Data RepositóriUM: immediate gains
• Registration of persistent identifiers (DOI);
• Enable data citation and credit to data producers;
• Self-deposit of files by datasets and in collections organised by UOEI/research unit;
• Preservation of files and datasets;
• Supporting compliance with the European Commission's Open Science requirements;
• Assisting authors in giving publishers access to data underlying publications;
• Allow controlled access to data and identification of users;
• Allocate licenses for the use of the datasets and explain the terms of use of the files;
• Document the datasets with adequate descriptive and administrative information;
• Facilitate the dissemination of research results.
