Lessons learned and future
Pathway 1 – Food storage
• Most of the existing traditional grain storage
found in Africa is less documented.
• Data collection and sharing needs further work
• This result also will be used as input or
baseline information for others/researchers
who are interested to study the best traditional
practices in Africa.
Pathway 2 - Microorganisms
• Little information and importance is known of
these precious species within our environs.
• The future protection of biodiversity including
microbial diversity in Uganda will rely heavily
on conservation of protected areas of the wild
given the population pressures.
• Setting up culture collection such as regional
banks of microbial resources to carry out the
conservation function shall be key in
indigenous microorganism conservation for
African agriculture.
