One note do not forget to mention a few examples of the traditional job boards.
Looking at the latest developments emphasize how important it is to search via social media first and then look into the traditional job boards. For example because large corporations usually have their own internal career website where they post all of their positions available worldwide. Before the rise of the social media job boards, corporations relied on the traditional job boards to increase the exposure of their vacancies. There are a number of disadvantages that a traditional job boards have; the main one is cost. Social media job boards have revolutionized the way companies advertise their vacancies. Not only that they are cheaper and in most cases are even for free, social media job board has a characteristic that is unrivaled compared to the traditional job boards and that is the “share” button.
This is where you close the section How to identify Job Opportunities
Busy hiring professionals must quickly screen out hundreds (sometimes thousands) of resumes. In fact, many use Applicant Tracking Systems built on complex resume parsing technology that helps narrow the field to just a handful of candidates. The few that survive this initial screening will then be subjected to a more careful scrutiny before valuable time is invested in an interview.
A professionally written resume can dramatically increase your response rate — and substantially shorten your job-search time. Landing a job is 70% presentation and 30% actual skills and abilities. In fact, the candidate who gets the job is not always the most qualified; rather, the candidate with the best presentation will get hired.
Your resume should be a powerful marketing tool that skillfully conveys the nuances and details necessary to reaching your goals.
The purpose of any resume is to improve your chances of landing an interview and securing a job offer. Since resume quality differs from person to person, it is important to ensure that yours stands out for its quality and not its flaws. To write a better resume, it is important to keep in mind several resume tips in order to craft a memorable and enticing summary of your value as an employee. One of the most important, yet frequently overlooked, features of a good resume is its length. A resume should be brief: typically between one to two pages. The object of a resume is to land an interview, not get hired. Focus on shaping the resume to impress upon an employer that you are worth serious consideration. Most hiring managers spend around 30 seconds or a minute examining a resume - it leaves no room for error or fluff. Keeping it brief yet information packed can be the key to attracting the right kind of attention.Be sure to use appropriate keywords liberally throughout your resume, as recruiter and employers often use software tools to find resumes. Examine the job description and frame your experience in light of that single position. Use the words within the job description when discussing your work experience and applicable skills. A direct consequence of this behavior is that each job for which you apply should receive its own personalized resume.Include the most important information at the top of the resume. Your previous work experience should be one of the first sections listed. When discussing previous experience and skills, prioritize by placing the most impressive and relevant information first. While there is much you can do to make your resume stand out in a positive way, there are several behaviors that need to be avoided. Don't share negative information. For example, writing a list of complaints about your last job does not add to your value as an employee. Do not include especially old or irrelevant work experience. Never include personal information such as your religion, sexuality, political leanings or other nonessential details. And, perhaps the most important resume tip, never lie. Lying on a resume can immediately ruin your credibility and your chances of getting the job.
If you know someone who works in the company to me I will always to leverage it to make sure that I got invited to an interview
Especially popular junior positions always attract hundreds of candidates
While there is no way of choosing your interviewer or predicting the exact questions to be asked during an interview, there are a number of interview tips that can help you make a great first impression. One of the simplest ways to show your interest in a company is to research into its history, know the job description, and even become informed with some basic background information of people you may meet during your interview.Interviewing is a bit of an art form and practice can make perfect. A good tool to help make yourself more comfortable in an interview situation is role play with a friend. Make a list of common interview questions and plan your answers ahead of time. Sit face to face with your friend and have him or her read you each question and respond appropriately. But make sure the questions and information you share are relevant to the position for which you are applying. While interviewing it is vital to remain calm, appear confident, and keep positive. One way to continuously show your interest and confidence is to maintain eye contact with the interviewer at all times.Address interview questions directly, concisely, and with relevant information. Try not to digress too much or delve into unrelated personal information. While you may want to appear friendly with the interviewer it is best to remain professional and address only the questions asked. Stay on topic. The best way to convey self-confidence and interest is through body language. Try to sit straight up and keep a smile on your face. You may find yourself slouching if you become nervous but adjust your position as necessary. Speak slowly and clearly and loud enough to be heard without difficulty. Again, maintain eye contact at all times. The more confidence you have in yourself, the more confident the interviewer will have in your abilities.
Be ready to be probed. Most of your important or most impactful experience or knowledge will likely to be tested by an in depth probing style questioning by the interviewers to see what you really know or what you have exactly done. Be very cautious in thinking about your answers before you give them and try to take your time if you need to recall some details from the past. Most interviewers will try to focus on more recent experiences however if you have done something very relevant to the job you are applying today it is good to reflect back on that specific period before the interview.
