  6. How many of you remember the two most popular catchphrases of modi’s election campaign – ab ki baar, modi sarkaar and acche din aane waale hain? BJP campaign strategists were given strict instructions to come up short and catchy phrases. The knew some hard facts about the voters – 19% of india’s popular was online. And 2 out of 3 people in india are below 35. The election campaign had an unprecedented voter turnout – over 66% voted. One of the highest ever. Digital had be a very critical aspect of the over strategy. With memes, whatsapp forwards, facebook posts, twitter contests, live chats, etc. BJP nailed it to perfection.

With over 18 million followers on twitter and 32 million fans on facebook, Narendra Modi ji has taken politics and diplomacy to the next level. His in your face messaging, strong consistent communication and powerful branding resulted in a landslide win in the 2014 general elections of India. And Social Media played a key role in mobilising the urban voters to vote – a demographic which rarely votes.

The government can get a lot of data, gauge sentiment, understand issues firsthand from across the country and much more.
