• Questions to answer
Very Early Humans
It was during this time that the higher
primates, including apes and early
man, first appeared.
Life of early human was based
on nature. Fruits, fish were
parts of his food. He was not
aware of fire. So, he ate rough
meat.
There was a difference between apes
and man. Early human-like hominids
could stand upright. Apes could not.
Their Shelter and
clothes
For saving himself from wild animals,
he started living in groups and
Started sleeping on trees or in caves.
Their Clothes were made of leaves,
animal hides, grass, etc. Those were
helpful for saving them from hot or
cold whether.
Tools
For hunting of animals, they used stones,
bricks of trees. Early humans used
hammer stones to strike stone cores
and produce sharp flakes. Sometime
tools were made of bones and wood.
They used these tools to cut, pound
and access new foods including meat
from large animals.
This era was called
Paleolithic Era.
After Paleolithic Era, another era was started.
Which is known as Mesolithic Era. In this era,
level of human life was improved. They started
using sharp stone tools. they came to know
proper use of wood. They made wooden spears
for hunting large animals. They started reserving
food. They also started making shelters
(huts) made of wood, leaves.
Discovery of fire
• Discovery of fire was a milestone in development of
human life. By rubbing the piece of stone against
another piece of stone human discovered that the
process creates fire. From this, human learnt burning
fire and cooking food.
• They also started using fire for saving them from wild
animals and to keep their bodies
warm during cold. Discovery
of fire made their life easy.
Discovery of Wheel
Before invention of wheel, early man has to walk on
foot. They would move to walking distance areas only.
They generally used tamed animals for riding to
covering longer distances with very less goods. They
lived in small groups in different places.
Before invention of wheel, these small
groups would remain isolated from other
groups. Later they started to carry their
burden on flat pieces of wood.
With the thought of rounded shaped
object can roll more easily on earth
surface thus it was the first time when
an idea of wheel came in existence.
Early human got idea to use wide
stem of the trees as a wheel.
This was a revolution in early man
life.
• Now they could easily make wheels with holes inside
for joining the two. Later they made cart that could be
carried by a bullock. Thus invention of wheel had
changed the early man life, entirely.
Answer these
Questions:
• Why early human ate rough meat?
• Why early human started living in groups?
• What kind of tools they used for hunting of animals?
• What helped them to save from cold weather?
