2. With excellent Network success rates and a 100
percent Refund Program, Premier IVF Practices
strive to make the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
treatment process as clear and stress free as
possible. Because of the medical terminology that
surrounds IVF, it can sometimes represent a
barrier to patient understanding, so Premier IVF
has prepared a very brief guide to the treatment
process and some of its related technical
terminology.
3. “In Vitro Fertilization” (IVF) is a reproductive
medical procedure by which an egg is removed
from a patient’s body, fertilized with a male sperm
cell, and allowed to begin dividing. At this
moment, the egg and sperm together are referred
to as an “embryo,” a term that is used to describe
the stage between fertilization and the
emergence, in utero, of a developed fetus. This
stage, known as pregnancy, generally lasts 39-40
weeks.
4. “Embryo transfer” is the process by which a young
embryo that is 3-6 days old is implanted in the
woman’s uterus. The procedure is generally
performed by a fertility specialist known as a
“reproductive endocrinologist,” an OB-GYN who
has received three additional years of advanced
training in reproductive medicine and fertility
issues.
