1. Homonyms Words that sound the same, but are spelled differently because they have different meanings.
2. Definition Many words that sound alike are actually spelled differently, depending on their meaning. Most computer spellcheckers do not fix this. Incorrect: I was not aloud to go out late. Correct: I was not allowed to go out late.
3. Correction Method To correct this common grammar problem, simply memorize & practice using common homonyms. Incorrect: He went too the mall. Correct: He went to the mall.
4. Example Sentences Incorrect: Their being very rude. Correct: They’re being very rude. Incorrect: Who would where that ugly shirt? Correct: Who would wear that ugly shirt?
