- UniPHY is a Scientific Social and Professional network designed to enhance and accelerate the collaborative process among Physical Science Researchers. UniPHY contains over 1.7M articles from AIP’s SPIN database, which includes AIP Journals and other AIP Member Society publications. One of the key differentiators of UniPHY is that it includes over 300,000 pre-populated researcher profiles, which contain articles lists, co-authors, relevant scientific disciplines, and other related information. This feature makes UniPHY an instantly viable platform for members, while many other social and professional networking sites are only as valuable as the amount of members that are currently signed up and active.
- We launched UniPHY in September, 2009, with features that help members promote themselves and their research, as well as update their current research interests. There are professional development features such as a Curriculum Vitae page and the Jobs and Events calendar, and there are also collaborative features like listing researchers ‘you might know’, and recommending articles to other members.
- Members of UniPHY can track their co-authors research interests and new articles as well as identify other researchers who are prolific in particular fields of study. Members can keep their CV and current research interests up to date, and create and participate in various discussions with other members. Editorial staff can use UniPHY to help find new reviewers specific to scientific discipline.
- UniPHY’s goals for 2011 and beyond are to increase traffic and visibility for UniPHY, which will in turn result in increased traffic, submissions, and citations for AIP. We will achieve this goal by adding article content from other publishers, as well as more useful social and professional features. We also plan on integrating UniPHY more seamlessly with AIP others products, services, and content such as Scitation, Production, Peer Review, and the Center for the History of Physics. This will keep interest levels high, making UniPHY a more attractive platform to join and visit more often.
