Fashion
What does it mean fashion? Different opinions
Fashion is a term that is used to describe a
popular style or practise especially in terms
of clothing and footwear. Fashion will be
influenced by many social attitudes and will reflect
popular opinion and preference. It will vary
depending on what is current in popular culture
and will be influenced by things such as music,
film and art.
Fashion is a part of our everyday lives. Even those
who insist that they don't care about their clothing
reveal a lot about their personality and how they
feel, in the clothes they wear. Clothes reveal a
persons background or cultural group. Styles give
an insight into the individual, but can also create
stereotypes and distance between groups.
.
Fashion comprises new and constantly changing
trends. They are sometimes born out of a sense of
wanting to be frivolous rather than wanting to do
something for practical, logical or intellectual
reasons.
Fashion is being unique and having style .It is from
your inner true heart and having perception and
excellent personality. Fashion is also a statement
and you might have seen the Myer fashion models
that put clothes for display for being persuasive. It
is how you present yourself to other people and
how your show off your beauty and your real true
you.
VERSACE
Gianni Versace usually referred to as Versace, is an Italian
fashion company and trade name founded by Gianni
Versace in 1978.
The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan's Via della
Spiaga in 1978, and its popularity was immediate. Today,
Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion
houses. Versace designs, markets, and distributes luxury
clothing, accessories, makeup, and home furnishings under
the various brands of the Versace Group. In 1994, the brand
became a household name after the widespread coverage of
the Black Versace dress of Elizabeth Hurley.
Versace's Style Department employs a group of designers
and stylists who work in teams. Each team is specifically
dedicated to each fashion line or label. These teams operate
under the close supervision and guidance of Donatella
Versace.
GIORGIO ARMANI
Giorgio Armani is an Italian fashion
designer, particularly noted for his
menswear. He is known today for his
clean, tailored lines. He formed his
company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001
was acclaimed as the most successful
designer to come out of Italy, with an
annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a
personal fortune of $7 billion as of 2012.
PAUL SMITH
Paul Smith, is an English fashion
designer, whose business and reputation is
founded upon his menswear. He is both
commercially successful and highly
respected within the fashion industry.
Smith was knighted by Queen Elizabeth
II in 2000, after nearly three decades as a
menswear icon. His collections of clothing
and accessories for both men and women
are usually identified by the presence of
Smith's multistripe signature somewhere
on each item.
ALBERTA FERRETI
Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer and dressmaker.
She designs for Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.
Her showroom is in Milan,Italy but her studio is in the picturesque
village of Cattolica, near Rimini, Italy. In 1968, Alberta Ferretti
opened her first little boutique, called Jolly, in Cattolica. She
designed a first collection in 1973 and was co–founder of Aeffe (a
clothing manufacturer and distributor) in 1976. She began showing
seasonal collections on runways of Milan, Italy, in 1981. She
launched Ferretti Jeans Philosophy in 1989, renamed Philosophy di
Alberta Ferretti in 1994. In 1994 she renovated a 13th–century
castle into the Palazzo Viviani hotel in Montegridolfo. In October
1993 Ferretti presented clothes reminiscent of The Great Gatsby for
the Milan ready-to-wear shows. One of her designs was a long and
trim gingham dress, in pale blue. A flapper showed a beige
crocheted dress styled just above the knee. Her renditions of
the toga for the production were diverse. They were simple gowns,
some of them short, others long and draped. Ferretti extended her
the breadth of her company outside of Italy beginning with the
acquisition of a building at 30 West 56th Street in New York City.
She started Aeffe U.S.A., which produced and distributed
PUNK FASHION
Punk fashion is
the clothing, hairstyles, cosmetics, jewelry,
and body modifications of the punk subculture.
The distinct social dress of other subcultures and
art movements, including glam
rock, skinheads, rude boys, greasers,
and mods have influenced punk fashion. Punk
fashion has likewise influenced the styles of these
groups, as well as those of popular culture. Many
punks use clothing as a way of making a
statement.Punk fashion has been extremely
commercialized at various times, and many well-
established fashion designers have used punk
elements in their production. Punk clothing, which
was initially handmade, became mass produced
and sold in record stores and some smaller
specialty clothing stores by the 1980s.
GOTH FASHION
The goth subculture is a
contemporary subculture found in many countries.
It began in England during the early 1980s in
the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk
genre. The goth subculture has survived much
longer than others of the same era, and has
continued to diversify. The goth subculture has
associated tastes in music, aesthetics,
and fashion. The music of the goth subculture
encompasses a number of different styles
including gothic rock,deathrock, post-
punk, darkwave,Industrial Music and neoclassical.
Styles of dress within the subculture range
from deathrock, punk and Victorian style attire, or
combinations of the above, most often with dark
attire, makeup and hair.
HIPPIE FASHION
The hippie subculture was originally a youth movement that
arose in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread
to other countries around the world. The early hippies
inherited the countercultural values of the Beat Generation,
created their own communities, listened to psychedelic
rock, and some used drugs such as cannabis, LSD,
and magic mushrooms to explore altered states of
consciousness.
Hippie fashions and values had a major effect on culture,
influencing popular music, television, film, literature, and the
arts. Since the 1960s, many aspects of hippie culture have
been assimilated by mainstream society. The religious
and cultural diversity espoused by the hippies has gained
widespread acceptance, and Eastern philosophy and
spiritual concepts have reached a larger audience. The
hippie legacy can be observed in contemporary culture in
myriad forms, including health food, music festivals and even
the cyberspace revolution.
VINTAGE FASHION
Vintage clothing is a generic term for new
or second hand garments originating from a
previous era. The phrase is also used in
connection with a retail outlet. Generally
speaking, clothing which was produced before the
1920s is referred to as antique clothing and
clothing from the 1920s to 20 years before the
present day is considered vintage.Retro, short for
retrospective, or "vintage style" usually refers to
clothing that imitates the style of a previous era.
Most vintage clothing has been previously worn,
but a small percentage of pieces have not. These
are often old warehouse stock, and more valuable
than those that have been worn, especially if they
have their original tags. Vintage clothing may be
either commercially produced or handmade by
individuals.
