This book is an inner excellence self-help guide to help us discover our true Being, release our pain and find deeper inner peace.
When we are intensely present in the Now, we respond from deep consciousness and flow with ease and joy in life. In so doing, we can better fulfill our outer purpose ( to achieve goals and seek to create a better world) while fulfilling our inner purpose and truly changing the world at cause.
Tolle started the book by sharing the circumstance and experiences leading to his “ Enlightenment”. Like many others, he had suffered from anxiety and even suicidal depression for many years. Then, when he was 29 years old, he had a personal epiphany which brought him “ a state of the most intense joy” and changed the course of his life since.
Happy reading

About Mr. Eckhart Tolle
3. Author’s Big Thought
I have little use for the past and rarely think about it.
“I cannot live with myself any longer.” This was the thought that kept repeating
itself in my mind. Then suddenly I became aware of what a peculiar thought it
was. “Am I one or two? If I cannot live with myself, there must be two of me: the
‘I’ and the ‘self’ that ‘I’ cannot live with.” “Maybe,” I thought, “only one of them is
real.”
I could still function in the world, although I realized that nothing I ever did could
possibly add anything to what I already had.
...forced my consciousness to withdraw from its identification with the unhappy
and deeply fearful self, which is ultimately a fiction of the mind.
What was left then was my true nature as the ever present
I am: consciousness in its pure state prior to identification with form. Later I also
learned to go into that inner timeless and deathless realm that I have originally
perceived as a void and remain fully conscious.
“You have it already. You just can’t feel it because your mind is making too
much noise.”
...become capable of breaking out of inherited collective mind patterns that
have kept humans in bondage to suffering for eons.
4. Author’s Big Thought
On one level, I draw your attention to what is false in you. I speak of the nature of human
unconsciousness and dysfunction as well as its most common behavioral manifestations,
form conflict in relationships to warfare between tribes or nations.
Such knowledge is vital, for unless you learn to recognize the false as false – as not you
– there can be no lasting transformation, and you would always end up being drawn back
into illusion and into some form of pain. On this level, I also show you have not to make
that which is false in you into a self and into a personal problem, for that is how the false
perpetuates itself.
On another level, I speak of a profound transformation of human consciousness – not as
a distant future possibility, but available now – no matter who or where you are.
You are shown how to free yourself from enslavement to the mind, enter into this
enlightened state of consciousness and sustain it in everyday life.
Don’t read with the mind only. Watch out for any “feeling response” as you read and a
sense of recognition from deep within.
Living knowledge, ancient and yet ever new, is then activated and released from within
every cell of your body.
...in essence there is and always has been only one spiritual teaching, although it comes
in many forms. Some of these, such as the ancient religions, have become so overlaid
with extraneous matter that their spiritual essence has become almost completely
obscured by it. To a large extent, therefore, their deeper meaning is no longer recognized
and their transformative power lost
5. You are not Your Mind
Our Mind is a great tool if properly used. But, Most of us
don’t consciously use it. We are so identified with the
illusions and identities conceived by the mind that we have
lost touch with our true Inner Being .
7. Illusion of Mind
Time is an Illusion. The past is only memory traces
in the mind, and the future is an anticipation that
may not happen. Both don’t exist at the present
moment nor define who we are now.
Everything that has even happened or been
created happened in the Now, “Now” is the only
moment that truly possess.
8. Constantly ask yourself “ What is going on inside me at
this Moment?. When you can observe your mind and
switch it on/off at will, you are no longer controlled by it.
Stop “ Creating time”. In the Now ( not 5
min or 1 year later) there is no problem.
Dwelling in the past only creates feelings
of guilt., regret, sadness; Dwelling in the
future creates worry, anxiety, stress…Thoughts
Be aware of the voice in your head.
Listen to your own thoughts, especially
repetitive thought patterns
Emotions
Emotions reflect what is on your mind,
including sub-conscious thoughts,
Observe the feelings, but not the
people/events you perceive to have
caused them. Thought patterns
Pain Body
Residual pain from the past accumulate
like a negative energy filed in your “pain
body”, and emerges in the form of anger,
irritation, depression etc.
When observing you mind.
DO
Observe them impartially
Accept them as they are

The Inner Body Self healing
DO
Withdraw attention from the past & future once
a task is done
DON‘T
× Don’t depend on your goals for fulfilment,
happiness, hope or identify. Don’t wait for
anything to “ save” you or bring happiness.
Act with “Present-Moment Awareness”
When doing something, seeking a
solution, or listening to someone, do it
with your whole body ( not just your
mind). Direct your focus fully into the
Now, taking a moment to focus on your
inner energy filed and being still. Allow
the response to surface consciousness.
Accept & Surrender to What is
You create more pain in the present by
resisting what is. Forgive each moment &
accept what is, so you can take action
with joy, and flow with (rather than
oppose) life.
When you bring consciousness into the body & connect with your timeless Being, you raise your vibrational frequency, strengthen
your immune system & self-healing capability, and slow down the aging process. Recognize that illness only exists with a past/future-
in the NOW, you are only feeling physical comfort’ do not label it as illness.
