Editor's Notes
Color map mode OFF (Mesh Position-Based): The nominal solid surface mesh is known as the nominal mesh while a surface containing DCS created entities is called analysis mesh. Both or one of these can be color mapped based on the difference between their current vertex coordinates and their nominal vertex coordinates.
Result: Only nominal mesh will be shaded.
Color map mode ON (Point Projection-Based): Only the nominal mesh is color mapped. The difference between the current coordinates of DCS points and analysis mesh points versus their nominal coordinates are projected onto the nominal mesh. These points do not actually exist on the nominal mesh so the nearest vertex of those points are found and determine the color map. Note: May cause slow performance.
Result: DCS points and the analysis mesh will be projected onto nominal mesh and shading will occur based on nearby vertexes.
