An Act amending 11 V.I.C., chapter 17, as it relates to the furnishing of supermarket price
lists to the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs
PROPOSED BY: Senators Nereida Rivera-O’Reilly and Usie R. Richards
1 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:
2 SECTION 1. Title 11 V.I.C., chapter 17, subchapter II, §1012 is amended by
3 designating the existing paragraph as subsection (a) and inserting a new subsection (b) to
4 read as follows:
5 (b) All supermarkets must provide a price list for all milk, bread, rice, flour, potatoes,
6 cereal, juice, dried beans, fruits, vegetables, meats and poultry offered for sale by no later
7 than the first Monday of every month, except when such Monday is a holiday. Then, and in
8 such event, the list must be submitted on the Tuesday immediately following that Monday.
9 For purposes of this section supermarket means a departmentalized retail establishment
10 offering primarily on a self-serve basis a variety of dry goods, meats, perishable produce and
11 dairy products as well as a variety of convenience, nonfood merchandise.

1 BILL SUMMARY
