13. Leave it Cleaner than you Found It We make sure we clean up after ourselves; if we show up somewhere and it’s dirty, we pick up after others; if we see trash, we pick it up
14. HYDE TIME To make sure meetings start on time, we arrive five minutes before hand to ensure everyone is ready to go
15. We are Courteous We hold doors open, we say please and thank you, we know everyone’s name, we treat everyone with respect. We don’t wear our headphones walking around campus.
16. Language We use respectful language anywhere and everywhere; we avoid using foul language, cursing, and disrespect.

LEADERSHIP TIPS: Delegate the calling to order to another student or person; it adds a subtle air of formality and respect, cueing students to do the same. This is done best by asking all to “please rise,” then say “good morning” and wait for the audience to reply. Let them know that they may be seated.Speak assertively and energetically; do not trail off. It’s fine to pause between statements while you collect your thoughts.Use strategies that get everyone involved in participating (for example, “discovery groups please stand in a circle and…” causes all to accept the authority of the leaders and ensures a minimum level of compliance; all bodies bring some energy to the activity)
