3. What are they?
Changing something to something else via
rules
Mathematics: mapping between values in a
range set and domain set(function/relation)
Geometric: translate, rotate, scale, shear…
Where are they important to graphics?
Moving objects on screen/ in space
Specifying the camera’s view of a 3D scene

4. 3D transformation are the graphics that use
a three-dimensional representation of
geometric data.
It is stored in the computer for the purposes of
performing calculations and rendering 2D
images.
Such images may be stored for viewing later or
displayed in real-time.

5. Moving of object is called translation.
In 3 dimensional representation , a point is
transformed from position P = ( x, y , z) to P’= ( x’,
y’, z’) .
Using P’ = T . P

6. The matrix representation is equivalent to the
three equation.
x’=x+ tx , y’=y+ ty , z’=z+ tz
Where parameter tx , ty , tz are specifying
translation distance for the coordinate direction x
, y, z are assigned any real value.

7. Transformation where an object is to be rotated
about an axis that is parallel to one of the co-
ordinate axis.
We can obtain the desired rotation with the
following transformation sequence:
X-axis rotation
Y-axis rotation
Z-axis rotation
