Which are the Best Budget Tented Semi- Luxury Camps in Masai Mara?
One of the most popular type of camping are the budget tented camps which offer a
relatively cheap option for accommodation in Masai mara whilst maintaining a
comfortable feel as well. These campsites are usually located right outside of the
national park but they do all their game drives inside the park. The most popular
budget tented campsites include the mara sidai, enchoro, Masai manyatta,
lenchada and rhino tourist camp. There are ofcourse many others which are good
enough. Most of these camps do not however have a swimming pool and you may have
to request to go swimming in a larger neighboring lodge at a fee.
The semi-luxury tented camping in Masai mara provides you with an alternative yet
cheap way to stay in the park without having to break your bank account. These
tented camping sites come with hot showers in the morning, flush toilets, mirrors a
comfortable bed with clean sheets and a coffee table and safari chairs. They are self
contained and you don’t share the bathroom with everyone else. You can book the

When to go to Masai Mara to see the Great Wildebeest Migration Safari?
Masai mara budget camping holiday is famous for people that want to see the great
wildebeest migration that takes place every July to October every year. This is the
movement of more than 2 million wildebeests, zebra and gazelles through the plains
to reach the fresh pasture that sprouts from rains on the mau hills. The animals move
northwards from Serengeti into Masai mara and then back into Serengeti in what is a
cyclic annual event that almost never stops save for a breeding season in February
when over half a million calves are born in under three weeks.

After lots of research, we booked our 1-day guided bike+hike trip with Sojourn
Safaris. Robert Muhuhu Kamau was the contact (info@sojournsa faris.com). He was
professional, courteous & extremely responsive to all our questions. Our driver &
wonderful bike/hike guide, James, made the entire day exceptional & well worth the
extra $. We would highly recommend Robert for those who want a carefree & special
adventure at Hell’s Gate…and don’t forget to request James!

“I recently spent a couple of weeks in Africa and on my way home had a layover of
several hours in Nairobi. I contacted Robert at Sojourn Safaris and he helped me plan
the perfect way to spend an afternoon (because the Nairobi airport isn’t the place
you want to spend more than a couple of hours). He customized a half-day tour and
adjusted things on the fly because of traffic, attraction hours, etc. From the moment
he picked me up at the airport, Robert was helpful and a great ambassador for
Kenya. I highly recommend the services of Sojourn Safaris, and based on my
experience, am hoping to do a Masai Mara safari with them in the near future.
Professional, reliable, courteous and good value… all attributes of Sojourn Safaris.”

“Sojourn Safaris provided a superior experience. Although I had only a relatively
brief period of eight hours in Nairobi, Robert made the very best of it. We were able
to see more wildlife in a shorter period of time than any of the large tours. Robert
filled the day with excellent experiences, including an extraordinary variety of
traditional culture and an excellent lunch. Whether you are traveling as a family or
as an independent professional with some extra hours at the airport, I would highly
recommend getting out of the airport and letting Sojourn Safaris give you an

Dan and I are safely back to our home in the US after a long journey last weekend.
I just wanted to take a moment to say to you how much we enjoyed our adventure
with Michael and the Sojourn Safari experience. It was absolutely fabulous! We saw
so many animals — BIG animals — and beautiful birds. We even saw giraffes and
zebras along the highway not too far out of Nairobi. I didn’t know why Michael was
pulling the van over until he pointed out the big animals who were in the trees just
off the road. My goodness!
Michael could not have been nicer nor could he have been any more knowledgeable.
He was so kind and patient. By the way, the lunches that we picked up at the Hilton
were really good! I haven’t eaten fried chicken in a long time and it tasted delicious!
All in all, it was a fantastic journey. Thank you for providing such a wonderful
opportunity for us.
