We are an Irish company that provides identity verification services without exposing any personal information.
This is Emily and her personal information is everywhere: bank, social networks, airlines, …
This technology can be applied to many sectors, such as authentication with connected cars or car sharing, smart health, banking, etc.
So what is the problem we are solving? Proving your identity without compromising your privacy.
Every time Emily authenticates to any of these services, her credentials are sent encrypted over the network, and compared in a remote server where they are permanently stored. In other words, her personal information is at risk in her device, in the server and during the communication between them.
With our patented technology, we can verify that two parties (client and server) know a certain identity attribute (like a password), without sending it over. In other words, your password would never leave your device and we eliminate the need to store it in the server. And when I say password it can be any other attribute, such as fingerprint, KYC information, etc.
How it works: first we hash the information, then we transform a randomly generated graph with the hash and create a second graph. This is done in both the client and the server. Then the server generates and sends random permutations to the client, where they are applied and responded to. If all the responses are as expected, it can be inferred the graphs match and hence the original data used to create them must also match. This patented technology is called Zero Knowledge Proof.
For the Unicredit PSD2 challenge we have created a Proof of Concept app called “Credicii” that, using Zero Knowledge Proof, provides strong user registration and authentication without exposing passwords or fingerprint information. It as well provides payment authorization services and automatic KYC verification against trusted identity providers, without exposing any personal details or storing them in remote servers.
For the KYC verification we are simulating an authoritative source, such us the government, that knows information about you. With Credicii, Emily authorizes this verification with the guarantee that her personal information is not being sent over and it is not stored in the server. What is stored are these one-time random graphs. This way, if the server is hacked, they will only find useless graphs, so that the bank is not legally liable for any leaks.
We help a person to build a digital footprint for themselves without anyone exposing the data they hold
We have two simple models:- an annual license model or a simple transactional business model where every authentication is charged
