Quick Update - Debrief
● What did you experience?
● What did you learn?

What is a stand-up meeting?
Daily team-meetings to make commitments to
[fellow] team members. The daily commitments
allows participants to know about potential
challenges as well as to coordinate efforts to
resolve difficult and/or time-consuming issues.
– Wikipedia
Agile Values?
● Individuals and interactions over processes
and tools
● Working software over comprehensive
documentation
● Customer collaboration over contract
negotiation
● Responding to change over following a plan

Why do stand-up meetings work?
● Frequent face-to-face
syncronisation of the team to the
work and product direction
Why do stand-up meetings work?
● Team self-organises to solve issues – asking for and
offering help
● “Kill the monster while it’s small”
Why do stand-up meetings work?
● Daily comms within, into,
and out of the team
● Trigger for before and after
comms
Why do stand-up meetings work?
● Make progress visible – motivation and
momentum
Why do stand-up meetings work?
● Team sharing and bonding
Slow down to go faster
“If you want me to speak for two minutes you
give me a notification of two weeks; if you want
me to speak for five minutes, I should have a
notification of one week, but if you want me to
talk all day, here I am.”
