know about the total number of SIM
Activations by the various UAO outlets in the
Varanasi city.
Objectives-To know about the position and
the value of the company in the Market.
This projects helps to maximize the customers
of this company & to provide better service
facility
5. Introduction About
Aircel is an Indian mobile network, Headquartered
in Chennai, which offers voice & data services ranging
from Postpaid and Prepaid plans, 2G and 3G services,
Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), Long Term
Evolution (LTE) to Value-Added-Services (VAS).
Aircel commenced operations in 1999
by Chinnakannan Sivasankaran and today is the
leading mobile operator in Tamil Nadu, Assam, North-
East India and Chennai.
6. In 2006, Aircel was acquired by Malaysia’s
biggest integrated communications service
provider Maxis (Maxis Communication
Berhard) and is a joint venture with Sindya
Securities & Investments Pvt Ltd - Maxis
holds 74% equity in the company
In 2010, the company brought 3G and wireless
broadband (BWA) spectrum in 13 and 8
circles respectively in the 2010 spectrum
auction
7. It is India’s fifth largest GSM mobile service
provider and seventh largest mobile service
provider (both GSM and CDMA) with a
subscriber base of over 65.1 million.
It has a market share of 7.33% among wireless
operators (includes GSM, CDMA, and FWP
operators) in the country.

There are about five distributors in Varanasi
covering the whole market of the city and
nearby places.
Learned about the functioning and working of
the Distributers.
All the distributer deals with more than the 200
Retailers.

Came to know about the working of TSM ,
Distributers, DSM and their role towards
enhancing sales by providing product and
services to retailers & customers on time.
Product Promotion is a major tool for
enhancing sales by means of Branding , taping,
poster’s and various offers(DP, CSK, monsoon
offers)
The aim of all players of market is to retain the
existing customers and acquire new one.
17. Experiential Learning
Came to know about the various types of
problem in network i.e out of coverage, power
problems, 2G & 3G problems and call
cracking.
2G (voice) operates at 900 MHz at covers
range of 3km while 3G (data) operates at 2100
MHz.
Came to know ICR (Intra Circle Roaming)
which is a guideline of TRAI to ensure sharing
of the towers and networks.
18. FINDINGS
Airtel has the maximum user base in varanasi
as compare to other players .
Aircel is on sixth position in the market
covering about 9 % of customers.
Aircel has the better scope for growth as its
customer coverage is increasing over a period
of time.
Better network service will lead to expansion
of our customer base.
19. CONCLUSION
Aircel is a leading mobile network company so
there is a Very Good scope for the growth of
the company.
Because of the better Product & Service its
share in the market continuously increasing
over a period of time.
Aircel is giving tough competition to big
players as it is providing very cost effective
offers.
20. LIMITATIONS
Sometimes retailers were reluctant to provide
the information.
Network problem in some of the outer area’s
need to overcome for expanding customer
base.
Proper and regular advertisement need to be
done for makings the offers and scheme
known to customers.
The study is been done keeping in mind the
policies of Head office.
21. SUGGESTIONS
Aircel networks need to be improved in some of the
area of varanasi and some outer areas so as to attract
more customer & provide better services.
Very competative advertising techniques need to be
adopted keeping in mind the competitor’s actions.
Company need to ensure better relations with the
distributors and other parties since perfect
functioning is possible only when their is perfect
understanding of each other.
