Ronak Shah is an engineer at the Institute for Plasma Research in Gandhinagar, India. He has a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Tech in Turbomachines. At IPR, he works on the design, development, and analysis of subsystems for an indigenous helium liquefier/refrigeration plant. His responsibilities include working on air compressors, helium compressors, and turbines. He has experience with CFD analysis and the design of compressor components like brake wheels. His areas of interest include fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, CFD, and compressor and turbine design.

CareerObjective
To work for an organization which would help me in enhancing my skills and professional
expertise and make the organization gain new heights through my hard work and dedication.
Experience
(July 2016 – Present) Engineer at Institute for Plasma Research (Bhakti Consultants), Gandhinagar.
Involved in design development and analysis of various sub systems of indigenous helium
liquefier/refrigeration plant including air compressor, helium compressor, Turbine (Turboexpanders)
along with their documentations.

Projects
(2015 July - 2016 June) Design and CFD analysis of compressor brake wheel for
Cryogenic helium turbine.
It includes the design of brake wheel which is nothing but a centrifugal compressor impeller for
controlling speed of turbine wheel mounted on same shaft and rotating around 2,50,000 rpm. It includes
3D flow analysis as well as structural analysis of wheel. Also brake wheel extract the power to be
dissipated from turbine shaft. It uses helium gas as a process fluid. The application of this project is turbo
expander, which is used in helium refrigeration plant at IPR (Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar)
2. (2015 July - 2015 December) Study ofdesign and mathematical modeling ofoil injected twin screw
compressor for compression of helium gas.
This includes the study of various parameters like suction temperature, suction pressure, pressure ratio,
rotational speed and their effect on volumetric efficiency using air as well as helium gas for oil injected twin
screw compressor so that it gives brief idea about which factors we have to keep in mind while using air
compressor with some modification for helium gas.
(2012 July – 2013 June) Comparative Experimental study on flat plate and parabolic type solar
collector (SK-14) with modifications.
It included experimental study on parabolic point solar collector (sk-14) with flat plate collector. Also
modification were made in sk-14 by using it with manual tracking mechanism and magnifying lens by improving
its performance.
