Introduction The question in front of physicians now is – “ can sleep or the lack of sleep cause obesity?” The recent research findings say ‘yes’, but is it true? They say that lack of sleep makes you gain fat. Sleeping less can cause changes in complex metabolic pathways that control your appetite, food intake and energy expenditure. But are they correct?
Background The researchers have chosen the topic, the relationship of the number of hours of sleep and weight because they want to falsify the claim that we tend to gain weight or be heavier if we would sleep less. The researchers think that people should lose weight since we use less energy when sleeping and we tend to use more energy when we are awake. The researchers have conducted a research to know if the claim is really true or not. The researchers hope that the result would have significance to people who are unaware of the relation of the number of hours of sleep and weight and to those who are aware of it and interested about the topic.
Purpose The purpose of this research is to shed some light about the real relationship of the hours of sleep and the weight of a person. To inform those who are unaware of the value of the above mentioned topic Objectives This research aims to falsify the claim that if you would sleep less, you would gain weight, and you would lose weight if you would sleep more. This research also aims to know the real effect of sleep to the weight of the people. The research seeks to find out if those who sleep less are heavier than those who sleep more.
Significance The researchers believed that this study, containing the explicit information about the significant relationship that exist between the number of hours of sleep and the weight of a person. It would prove helpful to the students and professionals who may have an interrelated subject in the future. Definitely, will contribute to those people who are not aware about the effects of their sleep to their weight. For this study, the researchers conducted a survey that could give additional information that would be very helpful to understand and provide proofs about the research. Finally, the findings of their research project can be used by the researchers as a source of information and data in their respective future related researches .
Scope and Limitations This research covers the weight and the number of hours of sleep of several first and second year Far Eastern University students. 242 students have participated in the survey proper, they are from sections A06A01, A06A05, A06A08, A06A18, A07B03, and M0715. This research contains information that are valuable to the researches for it contains the data about the weight and the average number of hours of sleep of the students. This research is limited to FEU students only with ages ranging from 16 – 24.

We, the researchers, would like to recommend to everyone concerned that we need to consider the results of this research that there is a relationship that exist between the number of hours of sleep of a person to his or her weight. This means that sleeping less could affect your weight, so we would like to recommend that everyone should at least sleep for about 8-10 hours a day. Losing weight from lack of sleep is not a good thing, if you want to lose weight, exercise, but always keep your sleep at about the average or normal sleeping time for adolescence and adults. Sleeping less could also be a cause of sleep deprivation, and as much as possible, you should try to avoid it. manage your time wisely, and have a good sleeping habit. Recommendation
What we have learned? It was one of the most unforgettable experiences we ever had. It is quite a hard task were we sacrifice our time and efforts but it helps us to gain a lot of lesson. It helps us to boost up our self-confidence, show our talents to the world, and share our knowledge to the people. It molds us to be a better person- to show care to our group mates, to be responsible and to be cooperative in all the things that we should do. It is such a wonderful activity which tests our patience, our strength, our weaknesses, our attentiveness and most of all our sense of humor. And the most valuable lesson that we learned is the relationship that was built between the members of the group throughout the conduction of survey.
