5. Life of Savitribai Phule
• Savitribai was born on 3rd January,1831,in Naigaon
of Satara district in Maharashtra.
• She got married to Jyotirao Phule at the age of nine
• On January 14th,1848, Jyotirao started a school for
girls and Savitribai started teaching in this school and
hence, she became the first woman teacher of India.
• Her first collection of poems-KAVYA PHULE-was
published in 1854 stressing the necessity of English and
Education
6. Social activity of Savitribai Phule
• Phule couple started a shelter home- Balhatya
Pratibadhak Griha for Brahmin widows in their own
house.
• After realising the Caste discrimination prevailing
among women, she started organising meetings and
Til-Gur festivals.
– In these meetings and festivals women of all caste could
participate.
• Mahila Mandal was formed in Pune in 1852 by her .
– This Mahila Mandal started working for the empowerment
and liberty of the women

continue to be an inspiration for struggle
against India’s caste system & inequality.

• Individuals being equal, it is necessary to provide
facilities to more and more individuals and the
monopoly in education should be stopped.
• while educating individuals, religion, race, caste
and sex should not be considered. Education
should develop values for humanism
• The principle of universaization of education
should be followed and to same extent education
should be made compulsory.

Social Science , Medical Science, Sociology, Arts
education- which are helps to develop social reform in the
Society.
