2. At what rate percent per annum compound interest, will Rs.
10,000 amount to Rs.13,310 in three years ?
Govt. First Grade College for Women's, Jamkhandi.
Explanation:
Let the required rate be x% p.a.
Here,A=Rs.13310,P=Rs.10000,t=3 years.
Using formula:
A=p(1+100R)^n
⟹13310=10000(1+100x)^3
13310=10000[100(100+x)]^3
⟹1000013310=[100(100+x)]^3
⟹(1011)^3=[100(100+x)]^3
⟹1011=100(100+x)
⟹11×100=10×(100+x)
⟹1100=1000+10x
⟹1100−1000=10x
⟹10x=100
x=10

Govt. First Grade College for Women's, Jamkhandi.
Explanation:
1. You can find the cost price of the article easily by letting it 100% and also by understanding
that here Rs 10 is a difference between first and second selling price of the article because
second time he is selling the article for Rs 10 more
2. SP1: First time he is selling the article at 10% profit means at 110%
3. SP2: Second time he bought it at 20% less than before means at (100–20)= 80% and sold it
for 10 Rs more or at the profit of 40% =(80*140)/100 = 112%
4. SP2 - SP1 = 10 or (112–110) or 2% = 10
5. 100% or cost price of the article will be 1000/2 = 500 Rs
