3. I want to use fonts similar to these for my cover lines and to use a mixture of the different fonts to add dimension to my front
cover and make it look more professional like a real magazine. However, I don’t want to use too many fonts as it could look
overcrowded and not as professional so I will probably use these three fonts, or fonts similar to this for all of my text excluding
the masthead, where I will be using a slightly bolder font to make sure it stands out more from the background image and so it
is clear to the readers that it is the title of the magazine. I am using sans serif fonts as I find that they look slightly more
informal and I think that would suit my target audience more than serif fonts. I feel like serif fonts may not appeal as much to
my target audience of females aged 18-30 as they can put people off reading something as it gives it a formal appearance
which some people may not like. Although I want my magazine to look quite sophisticated in some aspects, I don’t want to take
away from the fact that my target audience are quite young.
5. Colours.
The colours I would like to use for my magazine mainly are purples and blues. I have decided to use these colours because
of a few reasons. One reason would be that during my peer feedback, my group advised me that these colours would
probably suit my target audience a lot more than any other colours. I also think it would suit my target audience as
colours such as pink can seem quite childish or colours used in a magazine aimed at pre teens. I thought that blues and
purples would look a lot more sophisticated. As the image shows, blue is a colour that shows trust, smart, calm, faith,
natural, stable and power.
From this, I would say that it would represent calmness in my magazine as the front cover image will be of the sun setting
over the beach, which I think is quite a calm and relaxing thing for most people.
I would say that the purple I am using for the colour scheme in my magazine would represent luxury. This will be relevant
for my magazine as the contents will be based on luxury type boutique shops
down Seaview street and stuff so I think this will be relevant.
I will be aiming to use more darker colours, for example dark blues such as navy and
deeper purples.
