Electromyography, or EMG, uses nerve stimulation to
assess muscle response and electrical activity. The
test involves at least one intradermal needle that
measures electrical activity in a stimulated muscle.
Because muscles receive electrical activity only
during stimulation, the person performing the test
typically asks the patient to engage the muscle that
the test is measuring.
