  2. I believe in the total person concept. To me a leader must have strong values in order to succeed. I am a proud father and husband. I love sports some times too much for my wife’s taste.I’m an animal lover. But dogs to me are special.Proud Gulf War Veteran. I served 5 years in the Navy and 5 in the reserves.Proud Professional MSA Student!My mom says I have a great smile.
  3. Gandhi was able to bring independence to to India with a message of non-violence. He founded Apple and was fired from the company in 1986. He was hired again 10 years later and become CEO of company once more. Jobs was able to bring Apple back with creativity and innovation. He lead Apple to become the most successful IT company in the world today. Image source: www.apple.com from google imagesIn President Roosevelt, we see a person that faced incredible challenges during his twelve year tenure as president. These challenges include the great depression and WWII while battling polio. He brought the country together to get out of the economic crisis and win the war. After WWII the United States became a Super Power. These are leaders with proven records for getting results and having their troops follow them unconditionally.Gen. (Need to know)Trust must be established with the team in order to have a healthy environment (Life, work, etc)Fairness! I treat everyone the same, I discourage the teacher’s pet syndrome. Your actions and performance will be your measuring stick.I was lucky early in my career, I had great supervisors and managers that shared their knowledge. I enjoy doing the same with my teams and I expect themto do the same in the futurePersonal Values are very important, but Integrity to me stands above most. I have a passion to motivate and inspire my team or athletes to reach and surpass their goals.

(Trustworthy)- “If you can’t find it or don’t’ know the person…Call Hector, everyone is in his Blackberry. If he doesn’t know, someone in his Address list will” (Resourceful)- Plays for the team, protects the team, takes hits for the team (Team Player)- Above all Hector gets it done. Give him a task it will be completed. (Results Oriented)-Hector is a mentor, he enjoys Transfers KnowledgeThrough the years and by reading my evaluations in previous positions

But, before moving on, all pot holes most be covered and a plan must be established for the future after departure.When the subject of succession came up in the modules, I found it very interesting and important, a lot people leave positions and they don’t plan their exit. I have been in that situation, a department was dumped on my lap. I during the process, I made sure that I prepared the next person in line. This gave me more flexibility and I had someone that I felt comfortable with running the department when I was gone.
