Film is a form of art like painting,
music, literature or dance.
How does an art form
influence us?
•Purify our mind and feelings
•Entertain us
•Make us realize the social
realities of life
•Take us to yet another world of
thought
•Provide a mind and chance to
reflect and react
What do the so called main
steam films do?
•Emphasize on physical
strength. (heroism)
•Exploit the feelings like sex
and violence
•Neglect the marginalized
•Give prominence to the
feelings like envy, wrath
etc…
•Encourage consumerism.
•Promote a thought that
money and power are
more prominent.
•Body worship
•Focus on the orthodox
belief about life and
society
•Give importance to anti
social thoughts.
•No scene is impartial. They
promote the interest of
certain people
•If certain scenes/realities
fade away from the camera
it’s not accidental.
•Back ground, materials
used, sounds etc.. try to
convey certain meaning.
•What do you mean by a
good film?
Gives us a real vision of the
world we live
Presents the complexities
of life
Utilizes the possibilities of
visual language.
Provides us deep thoughts
rather than mere visual
