Rachel Caroline Derrah: A serial
collaborator, Rachel hosts projects
in Canada and Europe that invite
diverse perspectives into
conversations that matter. Based
in Halifax, her work with AoH tools
and practices has included large-scale civic gatherings to
design public spaces, participatory budgeting for
municipal funds, cross-sector unconferences,
PechaKucha nights, idea incubators, and interactive
public art installations. She is learning to open spaces
that invite us to bring our passions into the world.

Sophia Horwitz: Community
process artists and social
entrepreneur, Sophia has
spearheaded transformation
projects in Latin America, Europe,
Turkey, Canada and Japan.
Through participatory processes, Sophia engaged multi-
stakeholder groups around complex issues ranging from
social innovation to neighbourhood placemaking and
sustainable development. A weaver of relationships,
Sophia builds trust between disparate parties, her
specialty lies in facilitation, strategic planning, and
cross-cultural communication.

Violetta Ilkiw is a seasoned
facilitator, leading organization
change & participatory decision-
making process with communities
and organizations. For the past
14+ years she has also acted as
senior consultant to the Laidlaw
Foundation, bringing innovation and collaborative tools
into their work with young people. She experiments with
emergence, wide-scale social innovation & bringing deep
democracy into all settings. Violetta is currently diving
into a study of Deep Democracy pursuing a Masters in
Conflict Facilitation & Organizational Change.
Satsuko VanAntwerp is a writer,
connector and facilitator,
facinated by what shapes our
different views of the world. As
Manager at Social Innovation
Generation (SiG), Satsuko
supports social innovation lab practitioners and
