2. What is a killer whale?
• A killer whale is a toothed whale, belonging
to the dolphin family.
• It lives in all oceans, cold and fridgis, to
warm and tropic.
• They are highly social mammals.
3. Why is the killer whale
endangered?
• Commercial hunting- kiled for their fat, skin, flesh, and internal organs.
• Captured for entertainment
• Habitat pollution- oil spills can vause the food they eat to die off, which causes them to die off.
• Decreased prey- disturbance to its prey and over fishing can cause the orcas to have a decreased
number of prey they eat available.
• Collisions with boats can cause the killer whale to be injured and have mild to severe wounds that
can infect them, eventually killing them.
• Climate change
4. How we can avoid to
decrease killer whales.
• Learn all the reasons why they are becoming endangered/threatened and take these into
consideration.
• Have respect for the KillerWhale’s habitats and make sure you’re not harming them.
• If you’re around a killer whale’s habitat, don’t pollute the area, etc.Throw waste in the ocean.
