There are many items that I have come across while out at thrif t stores that I never thought of buying. I usually
stick to my guns and go f or the items I know I can sell f or prof it f irst and occasionally go to other parts of the
store to see what else they have. I usually sell men’s shirts, hoodies, jackets and blazers. This weekend I
decided to go to the other sections of the thrif t store.
Jeans
I went to the jeans section f irst because it was right beside the men’ shirts. I came across two very good
condition Lucky Brand jeans. The jeans did not have any tears and the bottom seams were in great shape. I
mainly buy clothing that is either in very good or mint condition because it can sell f or a higher price than
something in bad condition. I knew that lucky brand jeans were a good brand to buy because I have seen
YouTube video’s about which brands to look out f or (more on that later).
Electronics
The next section I went to was electronics. I love going to this section if I have time because so many people
overlook this part of the store (or just don’t know what to look f or). On one of the racks I f ound two
Remington hot curling irons. Both were all f ewer than 4 dollars so I knew that the risk of selling these would be
very low. I pulled out my smart phone, opened the eBay app and navigated to the sold listings f or the curling
irons. They had more than 20 sold listings selling between 15 and 35 dollars. I kept searching and f ound the
same exact model I had and it sold twice f or 30 dollars.
2. I did not want to get ahead of myself because this was an electronic device so it had to be tested f irst. Luckily
this thrif t store had two outlets to test the electronic devices. I plugged them in and they started heating up! I
also made sure that there weren’t any missing curlers in each device. I put them in my cart and headed to the
next section.
Men’s Shoes
I arrived at the men’s shoe section next. My experience with shoes are very limited, I have only sold 2 pairs in
the past (one pair I purchased f or myself that I never wore and the other pair were f ound at the thrif t store). I
was not sure what brands to get but I was able to search the sold listings as I came across a pair I was not
f amiliar with. I f ound a pair of Allen Edmond loaf ers that were in good shape. They were a bit dusty and had a
small crease in them but I did sell a pair in the past f or 70 dollars (link here), so I was willing to risk buying this
pair. I continued looking down the aisle and came across a pair of brown Imperial Florsheim dress shoes. I did
not know anything about this brand but they looked very unique. They stuck out among the other 30 or so
pairs of shoes on the same aisle. I pulled out my smartphone and checked the sold listings. I was excited!
3. Knowing what items to look f or bef ore leaving the house can def initely save you time. I have watched dif f erent
YouTube videos f rom Raiken Prof it, Hartsmotorcompany and Coco Army. These 3 channels have incredible
content about items to resell on eBay. They have been selling on eBay a lot longer than I have so I consider
them to be experts. I subscribed to them and watch their videos to expand my knowledge on men’s clothing and
other miscellaneous items they buy and resell.
Learning about new items while you are out can be rewarding. If I simply went to the thrif t store and only looked
at the men’s shirts and jackets, I would have missed out on the items. I decided to step out of my comf ort zone
and look f or dif f erent items to sell. The great thing about knowing how to determine what items are worth is it
can be applied to any item you f ind! There will be times where the item does not have any sold listings so it’s
hard to determine its price on eBay but, you can also do a simple Google search to see if it is being sold on a
dif f erent website.
I hope this tip was helpf ul and encouraged you to step out of your comf ort zone to f ind dif f erent items to sell
on eBay. Let me know what you think in the comments.
