About 2 Corer people are unemployment in Bangladesh.
At Present, the unemployment rate in Bangladesh is 13%.
Unemployment does not include:-
Full time student.
the retired person.
children.

4. Nature of Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh
1. Rural Unemployment Problem.
2. Urban Unemployment.
3. Educated Unemployment.
4. Unemployed Women.

5. 1. Rural Unemployment Problem
The rural unemployment rate is 65% of total manpower.
It has been two side of problem in unemployment :-
I. Seasonal Unemployment :- It is created by seasonal variation in
particular sector.
II. Disguised Unemployment :- disguised unemployment implies
underemployment of labor.

Urban unemployment is which exist in urban areas
3. Educated Unemployment
Graduate unemployment rate increase in Bangladesh.
Currently 47% graduates of Bangladesh are unemployed “According to
Economist Intelligence Unit”.
About 3 lac people are currently unemployed in Bangladesh,” According to ILO”.
Unemployed people goes to 6 crore in 2015.
the position of Bangladesh is 12 among the 20 unemployment growing
countries, (ILO).

In our Country, women are still lagged behind.
Various Superstitious.
Religious factors.
Lack of education
Work atmosphere badly influence women to do work.

It is created by seasonal variation in particular sectors
Cultivating crops.

Fruits picking.

Changing careers.
Moving new city & when they arrive.

• People are able to work but they choose not to any work

• When the Economy enters a recession
• When GDP is negative , Unemployment is high.

12. Causes of Unemployment Problem In Our Country :
Over Population : The number of total population of our country is about 16 crore . Now, population
growth rate is 1.6% .Over population increases unemployment problem .
Poverty : Sometimes , because of poverty it is difficult for young person to start a self-employed
business.
Lack of Skilled People : At present 30% of total population are young, among them few are skilled .
Lack of Training : As compared to the number of unemployed people of our country, the number of
training institutions are not sufficient.
Lack of working scope : In our country there are not available business and job sectors . So, many people
remains unemployed .
Huge number of Candidates : In our country , there are huge number of candidates in any recruitment
exam in public and private sectors, huge no of candidates fight for a single vacant post.

13. Effect of Unemployment Problem In Our Country :
Decline of the standard of living : If there is no income , the standard of living will reduce. As an
unemployed person has no income ,so his standard of living is low.
Creation of frustration : Unemployed people become hopeless, they can be addicted with drugs , they
include them in evil thinking and crimes.
Hinders to economic growth : unemployment problem constraints our economic prosperity ,without
unemployment problem our economic growth will increase.
Increasing Corruption : For unemployment problem, people want to get jobs by hook and crook, even
they follow illegal means to get a job , by giving money and keeping connection with powerful persons.
Decline of social status : An unemployed are treated as important persons of a society, everybody
looks down him .

14. Measures For Reducing Unemployment Problem In
Our Country :
Rapid Industrialization:
I. Giving emphasize on those industries with more business scope for employment .
II. Promoting export –oriented readymade garments (RMG) units. Now in Bangladesh more than
4 million people are working in garments of which more than 80% workers are women.
III. Establishing industries in undeveloped areas and other areas with more unemployed people.

15. Extension of Technical knowledge :
I. Providing technical knowledge through workshop in the industrial sectors .
II. Providing training at agriculture sectors .
III. Providing IT training .
Measures For Reducing Unemployment Problem In Our Country :
Extension of development programs :
I. Offering Ka-Bi-Kha (Food, based on work ), ka-Bi-ta (Money, based on work) programs to
unemployed people.
II. Developing PWD (Public Work division ) programs frequently.
III. Increasing the various development activities of non-government organizations, like
BRAC(Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee),ASA(Association on for Social
Advancement ) etc. 15
16. Send more manpower to foreign :
In previous years about 7-8 lac people were sent to foreign countries per year , recently, per year
about 3 to 4 lac people were sent to foreign countries. According to Bangladesh Manpower
Employment & Training Bureau the number of people had been sent to foreign are:

countries.
II. Establishing high-quality training institution for developing skill.
III. Keeping good relation with foreign counties.

17. Increase employment scope for women :
I. Providing incentive based education to women.
II. Providing training for self-employment to women.
III. Increasing the number of women employee at NGOs. At present 90-95% women are
included in NGOs about 25% women employee increase by 10 years.

20. -In the nineties the growth rate of unemployment was 1.9% (According to ILO)
-The current rate of unemployment is 3.7%
The ILO figures also show Bangladesh in the twelfth position among the top
twenty countries in the world where unemployment is rising.

5.Send More Manpower to Foreign
-According to bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) a total of 66,327 people more then
60% work in the Middle East.

23. Conclusion
Unemployment is a great curse to a nation. We can not expect the development
of our country leaving its million of people unemployment to survive as a
boastful nation. We should make all out effort to get rid of this curse.
