1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts ?
2. Throughout the creation of my horror trailer, magazine
cover and horror poster I wanted to make sure that it
was extremely clear to the audience that the doll which
is placed on the antagonist who has died Is cursed and
has therefore passed this curse on. Through placing the
doll in two of my media products I aimed to achieve this
and by leaving the doll out from my horror poster I
wanted to show the change of intentions from my
antagonist.
3. My intentions were for the
doll to play a central figure
over the course of my trailer
that kept on reappearing to
create a feeling of suspense
and leave the audience
wondering what significance it
holds. I used another prop to
clearly display that the doll
was not going away and to
help portray the confusion
from my victim as to what was
happening to him
4. I also needed to incorporate the doll with my main
character, in order to try and make my poster
appeal to my target audience I choose to now
have my antagonist sitting in the arm chair to
show that she was imitating the dolls creepiness
and that by this point she had been cursed.
I made use of low key lighting when designing my
horror poster as this is a very common feature
used in horror films as it creates a sense of
uncertainty and leaves the audience on edge. I
also used a short sharp sentence to attract the
attention of my audience and leave them
wondering what my antagonist is going to do next.
5. One way that I linked each of my product was through the limited use of
different colours that were against a darker background. This is
something that a lot of horror posters and magazine covers do as it helps
the text to stand out and catches the attention of the audience straight
away without prevents the chance of the not seeing it. I used a
conventional horror colour which is red against a darker background to
really emphasise what my magazine cover was trying to display.
6. I feel that although my ancillary text’s use some of the horror
conventions an audience would expect too see, they may still not be
completely sure on what the storyline is. As I have used a doll
throughout the production of my ancillary texts however I feel that there
is a good link between all three of them which my target audience
should pick up on.
