  1. 1. Mr Caine
  2. 2. Lesson Objectives To know the definition of ICT, System and ICT System. To be able to provide examples of a System and an ICT System. To understand what the difference is between Data and Information is and how that change takes place.
  3. 3. What is ICT? In pairs discuss what you think ICT? Information and Communication Technology is the use of technology for the input, processing, storage and transfer of data and the output of information.
  4. 4. ICT Systems Find/Create a definition for a ‘System’ and an ‘ICT System’  System – “A set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole” – Input, Process, Output  ICT System – The same as a System but it uses technology and the output goes directly to a human or another ICT system.
  5. 5. System – Input, Process, Output Data Information Input Process Output Take Food Add up the Produce the Order Separate Bill Items
  6. 6. ICT System –Input, Process, Output Data Information Input Process Output Photos from Crop and Improved Digital Airbrush in Photos Camera Graphics Displayed Software
  7. 7. Task - Systems Draw the Input, Process & Output diagram for both a System and ICT System. Annotate both diagrams with an example.

  9. 9. What is Data? In pairs discuss what you think Data is? Data can be defined as a set of recorded facts, numbers or events that have no meaning. Data is meaningless until it is given relevance. All data on a computer is represented by 0’s and 1’s.
